United Kingdom’s pharma industry IT recruitment activity drops 23.3% in December 2022

The UK’s pharma industry registered a 23.3% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 28.49% in December 2022 when compared with November 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.53% share in December 2022, recording an increase of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in December 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 50% in December 2022, registering a 52.44% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 28.04% share, an increase of 36.36% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 7.94%, registering an 88.89% rise from November 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.54%, down 17.65% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 41.51% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during December 2022 over November 2022.

Your World Healthcare posted 85 IT jobs in December 2022 and registered a drop of 62.39% over the previous month, followed by AstraZeneca with 29 jobs and a 141.67% growth. Bausch Health Companies with 18 IT jobs and Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust with 14 jobs, recorded an 18.18% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while PSI CRO recorded an increase of 80% with 9 job postings during December 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.83%, down by 40.6% from November 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.36% share, registered a decline of 2.78% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 8.41% share, down 21.74% over November 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.4%, recording a month-on-month increase of 200%.
