Confession time. There’s only one thing we love more than french fries. It’s onion rings. Crazy for ‘em. So when we got wind that there was something rings-related cooking in the Quest™ test kitchen, we sent a strongly worded instant message demanding more information. This is what we learned. Loaded onion rings featuring Quest Loaded Taco flavored Tortilla Style Protein Chips are very real. They’re easy to make. They’re delicious. We’re eating them as we write this and making a big mess.

Ingredients
QUESTIFIED LOADED ONIONS RINGS
- 2 bags Quest Loaded Taco Protein Chips, crushed
- 3 tbsp gluten free flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 large yellow onion, slides into ½ inch rings
- ½ lbs ground beef, lean
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese Sauce:
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 2 tbsp almond milk, unsweetened
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese
Toppings:
- 1 roma tomato, diced
- 2 tbsp scallions, sliced
Method
- Preheat the oven to 375 F and prepare a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Place the crushed chips, flour and eggs into their own shallow bowls.
- Coat each onion ring with flour, then in the egg wash and then finally coat with crushed chips.
- Place each coated onion ring on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake the onion rings for 7-10 minutes and golden brown.
- While the onion rings bake, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the beef with olive oil and seasonings until fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.
- Prepare the cheese sauce by placing the ingredients into a skillet over medium heat. Whisk until melted and smooth.
- Assemble the onion rings on a serving dish and top with cooked beef, cheese sauce and toppings and serve.
